Electrospinning provides a versatile technique to fabricate adhesive nanofibers that conform to surface asperities. In our laboratory, we tested many different synthetic fibers that produce remarkable adhesion strength and energy that exceed those reported from nature. It is our goal to make our fibers adhesive, reusable and scalable such that thay can be commercialized for niche markets in industry.
90 degree peel test for fiber-fiber, mesh-mesh and mesh-substrate adhesion.
At the crack front, fibers deform and detach.
Similar to naturally occuring fibers, the electrospun fibers easily detach and reattach themselves on substrates with low peel strength.
